8 Day Cairo and Nile Cruise

Many of our Nile Cruise clients would also like to visit Cairo to see the wonders of The Pyramids and The Sphinx whilst in Egypt but unfortunately most Nile cruises begin and end in Luxor and last for a full week.

However with this special 8 day tour you get the best of both worlds. You will cruise the Nile whilst having the opportunity to spend time in Cairo to enable you to see The Pyramids, The Sphinx, The Egyptian Museum and the fabulous sights and sounds of Cairo.

Here's what the tour typically includes:

Day Details
Day one Fly from Gatwick or Manchester to Luxor. Upon arrival transfer to the 5 Star Viking Princess Nile Cruise Ship (details below) for a four night cruise.
Day two Morning visit to the Valley of the Kings - the site of Tutankhamun's tomb, the Temple of Queen Hatsheput and the Valley of the Queens. Final stop of the day will be at the Colossi of Memnon before arriving back at the boat in time for lunch. Afternoon at leisure whilst the boat sails to Edfu via the Esna lock.
Day three Morning visit to the Temple of Edfu, dedicated to the god Horus and the largest, most preserved temple in Egypt. Afternoon set sail for Aswan.
Day four Morning excursion to the High Dam, the Old Granite Quarries and the Unfinished Obelisk. There is also a trip by boat to the Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis and occupying a picturesque location on an island.
Day five Disembark and fly from Aswan to Cairo for a 3 night stay at the Le Meridien Pyramids Hotel (details below). There is the possibility of an optional excursion to see the magnificent temples at Abu Simbel. This additional trip by air will cost approximately £100 per person. Please advise at time of booking if you intend to take this option.
Day six Optional morning visit to see the Great Pyramids of Giza and Sphinx. Afternoon at leisure, time to relax by the pool or to do some shopping in the many bazaars. In the evening a chance to take an optional excursion to see the fantastic Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids.
Day seven Optional morning excursion to the Egyptian Museum to see the treasures of Tutankhamen. Afternoon at leisure or you may want to take an optional tourr to the stunning mosques of Islamic Cairo and the intriguing early churches of Coptic Cairo. In the evening, enjoy an optional dinner cruise on the Nile whilst watching a traditional folklore show.
Day eight Fly to Luxor and onward flight to the UK. Alternatively you could extend your stay in Egypt and spend a relaxing week by the sea in El Gouna.
