About 2 years ago Barbara and I were privileged to be shown around one of Egypt’s most famout hotels, “The Old Cataract” in Aswan. We were shown around by the general manager of the hotel who told us about the many famous politicians from around the world and the numerous musicians, filmstars and wauthors who had stayed at the hotel during it’s long history.

The hotel itself stands in a wonderful position on the banks of the Nile and offers 138 rooms and suites, 4 restaurants, 4 bars, outdoor pool and Spa offering a number of treatments.�

Known throughout the years as a landmark hotel in Aswan it has been welcoming the rich and famous since it first opened in 1899.

The manager told us that the hotel was shortly to close for complete renovation and that the work would take a number of years to fully complete.

Well, the hotel will once again open it’s famous doors after its extensive refurbishment on September 15th 2011 and we have a great arrangement that we can offer you combining a 4 night Nile Cruise on the excellent Royal Viking Nile cruise ship followed by 3 nights at the legendary “Old Cataract Hotel”.
