Nile Cruises 4u in Cairo

Barbara at the Valley Of The QueensWe are in Cairo and have spent the day visiting Memphis, Sacchara and the Pyramids in Giza.

We met our guide, Ahmed, at 7.30 (yep…7.30am) at our hotel, the Meridien Pyramids and headed off to spend the day visiting Memphis, the step Pyramid at Sacchara (forgive the spelling as I’m not sure of it) and the we ended up at the great Pyramid at Giza where we also visited the Sphinx.

We have SO much content to use when we get home.  We have 200+ photos, stacks of video footage from the Flip HD camera and loads of audio that we recorded on the Zoom H2 recorder.

Last night we booked, at the very last minute, to go to the Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids.  It cost us £13 each and we were picked up at 6.00pm.  Imagine our surprise when we reached the packed auditorium to find we were led straight to the front row.  What great seats and what a wonderful position.

The show was great.  So atmospheric and dramatic.  I highly recommend it.

Our hotel, the Meridien Pyramids is in a great position and we have just had lunch by the pool listening to a great band with the Great Pyramid in the background.

Weather is fabulous and we are seeing so much and having a wonderful time.

If you are taking a Nile Cruise and can fit a visit in to Cairo then I really recommend that you do.

Tomorrow we are flying back to Luxor and overnight at the Mercure and a visit to a new Dahabiya who’s owners have asked us to visit.

When we get back I’ll upload a lot of new content to the main Nile Cruises 4u website and here on the blog.
