A copy of an Edwardian paddle steamer, The Oberoi Philae is amongst the best boats on the Nile.  All 58 air-conditioned cabins, including 4 suites, feature a mini bar, TV, radio, telephone, safe and private balcony.

The Philae restaurant, where guests are expected to dress for dinner, provides a Continental and Egyptian menu.  The Lounge Bar serves a range of beverages, including soft drinks and cocktails.  In the evenings the Lounge Bar is the venue for the discoteque.  On deck sunloungers and teak parasols surround a good-sized swimming pool.  For the more active guset state of the art gymnasium equipment is available.

Your Itinerary:

Saturday - Depart from the UK to Cairo. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to the 5* Mena House Oberoi for the next 3 nights. During your stay, you may book excursions, or explore the city independently.

Tuesday - In the morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Aswan. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to the 5*+ Oberoi Philae. After lunch on board, visit the Botanical Gardens by felucca. Overnight in Aswan.

Wednesday - Morning visit to the High Dam, Old Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple before sailing on to Kom Ombo. In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Sobek in Kom Ombo, and then continue on to Edfu. Overnight in Edfu.

Thursday - Morning visit to the Temple of Horus in Edfu, before sailing on to Esna. In the afternoon, cross Esna Lock and continue on to Luxor. Overnight in Luxor.

Friday - After breakfast, visit the West Bank, including the Valley of the Kings, the Queens and Medinat Habu. Spend the afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Luxor.

Saturday - Morning visit to the Karnak and Luxor Temples and then on to the 5*+ Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh, Hurghada, by road - a journey of approximately 4 hours.

Thursday - After breakfast, transfer to Hurghada airport for your return flight to the UK (via Cairo).

The Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh is home to a fantastic house reef, with an amazing variety of fish. The reef can be accessed from the beach, but is better reached from the hotel's jetty. Equipment can be hired from the dive centre at the hotel. Alternatively, guests can visit local dive sites such as Giftun Island National Park or Sharm el Naga by boat.
