I’ve just read a great account of a family’s first experience of a Nile Cruise.

They are the Leonard Family who are travelling around the world and describing their experiences on their blog.

Day 38 Luxor

Saturday January 12, 2008

I am writing this entry (and the previous) Sunday morning sitting on the top of our Nile River Cruise Ship – The King of Thebes. I just watched the sunrise. It was spectacular. We are cruising up the Nile towards Aswan – Upper Egypt. As the Nile runs south to north Northern Egypt is called Lower Egypt and Southern Egypt is Upper. East is Sinai and west is well – desert.

We are rabidly closing in on the half way point of the trip. The dates are really blending together – I am glad I am keeping blog’s. Each time I make an entry I have to look at the calendar to see what day it is and what day of the week.

It is a little chilly on the deck of the ship so I might end up finishing this later. Continue reading “Day 38 Luxor”

We get a lot of enquiries for “Nile Cruise & Stay Holidays” combining either a few days in Cairo to see the Sphinx and Pyramids and then followed by a Nile Cruise OR a Nile Cruise followed by a further week in either Luxor or one of the Red Sea beach resorts such as Hurghada, Sharm-El-Sheikh or Taba OR all three!!

In other words a few days in Cairo, a week’s Nile Cruise and then a further stay in either Luxor or one of the Red Sea beach resorts.

Obviously these arrangements cost a bit more than a straightforward Nile Cruise but a lot of our clients say that if they are going to Egypt then they are going to really make the most of their time there and see as much as possible.

I’m always on the lookout for stories on the web of other people’s adventures in Egypt and came across this weblog that describes a recent “first-time” trip to Egypt…

“We have generally been independent travelers. However, with Egypt, we decided to take a tour package recommended by a friend. It was totally fantastic and Egypt is absolutely magical. Our local tour guide was a true pleasure, a warm personality, fun and has been really effective in communicating Egyptian history to people like me, who has no interest in history. Amazingly, after tour, I have been searching about Egyptian history, myths and symbols. I have been able to remember names of some kings and queens and god”.

I found this video on You Tube and thought it was a great video to show you the types of views you’ll see from your cruise ship as it cruises slowly down the Nile.

I am editing episode 5 of the Nile Cruise Podcast and it should be available and ready for you to listen to early next week.

I think that a monthly Nile Cruise Podcast is the ideal schedule with perhaps the odd “special” podcast thrown in now and then.
