Why Take A Nile Cruise?

Hot-air ballooning in Luxor

If your reading this post after finding our website and blog by searching on Google or another search engine and are wondering why you should consider taking a Nile Cruise I thought I’d try and put a few points across as to why you would enjoy cruising the Nile. So here goes…

  • It’s a great mix of “activity” and “relaxation. Often you hear people saying, “I’m not a beach-type person”, or “I cant’ stand just lying on the beach”, or “I need to be out doing something”. Well a Nile Cruise is really an ideal solution. Why? Because it’s almost a perfect mix of the two. Each morning of your cruise you’ll have the option to leave the ship just after breakfast to take one of the “built-in” excursions to explore and find out more about the various temples, archaeological sites or tombs that, over the week, will help you build up the fascinating picture that is “ancient Egypt”. Most excursions will last for 3 or 4 hours and you’ll return to the ship invigorated and exercised, both mentally and physically. (Dont’ worry you wont’ be climbing hills and striding out for miles!!). Then, after freshening up and having a leisurely lunch, you’ll be up on the sun deck relaxing on a your sun bed or taking a cooling dip in the pool whilst your cruise ship sails leisurely down the Nile. After a relaxing afternoon on board you’ll get ready for dinner in the ship’s restaurant and then enjoy a relaxing evening in the lounge, enjoying one of the evenings of entertainment or sitting out under the stars on the sun deck enjoying a cool drink and chatting to new found friends. the perfect combination of “activity” and “relaxation”.
  • It’s very socialable. I liken taking a Nile Cruise to taking a skiing or snowboarding holiday. What?? I hear you say. Well, if you’ve ever taken a winter sports holiday you’ll remember that on the first and second day, when your in your ski lessons you’ll end up falling over and being helped up by the “stranger” next to you. Or, you’ll do the same when he or she falls over. Within a a short while your talking away to each other and other class members who’ve fallen over too. By the next day your all on friendly terms and are chatting away with each other. Well, a Nile Cruise excursion is pretty much like that, without the falling over!! Your boarding the mini-bus or coach together, your walking around the temples and sites together, your listening to the Egyptologist together, your asking each other what the Egyptologist said if you’ve’ missed a bit. In other words your mixing without realising it. And, of course when you get back on board the ship you are on nodding, if not chatting terms with a lot of your fellow cruisers. Couple that with the fact that you will probably be sharing a table with some of your fellow cruisers and you’ll soon find that your part of a very sociable bunch of people. If you want it to be like that. Obviously there are some of us who are very private people and like to keep ourselves to ourselves, but, for those that want it to be, a Nile Cruise is a very sociable experience. I also think its’ particularly good for anyone travelling on their own for those every reasons mentioned above.
  • If your fascinated by Ancient Egypt, then it goes without saying that you will have a marvelous time and you will learn so much, without realising it, about that mysterious and wondrous civilization. You will also learn this from an fully qualified Egyptologist. An Egyptologist who, usually, is great with people as well as being able to put across his or her extensive knowledge in an enjoyable and effective way. Over the days you’ll start to see where things, events, people, buildings, Pharaohs and Queens, etc fit into place and you’ll be astonished at what you’ve learnt without trying. Of course, for those travellers who already have a knowledge of Ancient Egypt a Nile Cruise is a way to bring it all to life and actually visit the places and sites that you have read about.
  • It’s great value. A Nile Cruise is really excellent value in terms of what you will actually receive for your money. Imagine travelling to Egypt, a flight of a round 5 hours, enjoying a full board or all inclusive 8 day cruise down the mighty River Nile with the services of a fully qualified Eygptologist with 3 evenings of entertainment thrown in, from prices starting around £600 upwards, depending on which ship you decide to travel on and what offers are available when you book. That’s great value especially when you look at what else your money will buy you “holiday-wise”.
  • It’s a unique and unforgettable experience. There aren’t many travel experiences that you can undertake so easily and in such comfort that matches a Nile Cruise. You will long remember seeing your first sunset over the Nile or your experiencing the majesty of The Valley Of the Kings or the Temple Of Luxor, at the same time trying to imagine how these wonders were constructed all that time ago without the benefit of mechanical aids. You truly will look in wonder.

Well, those are just a few of the reasons I think you should take Nile Cruise. I’m sure there are many more.

If you are reading this and have already enjoyed cruising the Nile and have your own opinions as to why anyone should undertake this great travel experience I’d love for you to add your comments below.
